Pierpont Commons is the heart of North Campus. Here we see students from wildly divergent schools and departments, from the performing arts to architecture to engineering, come together to study, relax, eat, and find a place they can simply be. We also play host to groups from all over and outside campus in our conference spaces and use the opportunity to show them a side of University of Michigan they may have never seen before. It’s the job of our Set Up Staff to ensure that these guests not only have all their needs taken care of, but to also act as the first response when issues crop up for any guests and business partners in our building.

DUTIES:
-Monitor building and alert the proper authorities to any issues, whether DPS, maintenance, or Facility Coordinator
-Be able to move furniture and other equipment from room to room as necessary
-Work with Building Manager to ensure rooms are set up for events both on the day of and the next
-Be available for any requests made by patrons and business partners
-Tour facilities and identify potential problems
-Make time to assist in set ups that may take place outside of standard shift hours
-Be prepared to offer assistance in other duties related to the operation of Pierpont Commons

This position will develop critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills. You will improve your knowledge of event planning, facilities, and AV equipment while gaining appreciation and insight into the care and maintenance of historical buildings.
