Social Media Creator/Videographer
4 - 8 hours/week

This position is a storyteller who uses video to bring ideas to life. They will work closely with our social media team, including two other students, to identify and create short form video for posting on M Housing’s social platforms, focused currently on Facebook and Instagram. We’re out to work that’s short, fast, creative, experimental, and above all true to the human experience of living in Housing. While more sophisticated cameras are welcome, our vision is to push the boundaries of what phone-based videography can be (and given that Steven Soderberg shot two movies on an iPhone 8, that’s pretty good).

The videographer will:
+ Brainstorm video ideas with the social media team
+ Develop an ingenious way to quickly and beautifully capture the content
+ Run basic sound on video shoots
+ Create videos out of provided footage (improving it to the best of your ability)
+ Travel to locations to film interviews and grab b-roll
+ Edit video and still photos for social media
+ Incorporate branding elements into video
+ Ensure that university guidelines (waivers for video participants, etc.) are followed

Public health guidelines permitting, in-person video production will be a part of this job.

Qualifications
+ Solid grasp of camera technique, composition, and lighting
+ Able to quickly use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit video
+ Basic knowledge of effects and graphics
+ Familiarity with Creative Suite
+ Capable of finding and learning from tutorials to pick up skills
+ Incurable fondness for television
+ An abiding love of telling human stories and connecting with people.

Special instructions:
Please include in your resume a link to any video work. Applicants will be contacted by September 6 for next steps, which will include submitting a brief edited video.
