The Graduate Intern for Student Staff Recruitment and Development assists with the recruitment, selection, and development process of student staff in both Undergraduate and Graduate residential communities. The Graduate Intern will also work with the Selection and Training Committees in executing selection and training responsibilities at the direction of the Assistant Director for Student Staff Selection and Training.

Responsibilities
Selection and Training (30%)
-Participate in training committees to guide and implement training to ensure federal and university compliance and promote the growth and development of student staff.
-Participate in selection committees to continuously improve processes and assist in the hiring of approximately 600 student staff throughout the year.
-Assist in the development of individual training session goals and objectives for each component of the training program; recruiting facilitators, developing agenda, activities, and assessments.

Educational and Student Development (30%)
-Collaborate on the creation of a comprehensive onboarding process and training curriculum that supports the department’s mission.
-Guides positional planning, program development and coordination of efforts in alignment with overall departmental needs.
-Assist in the development of individual training session goals and objectives for each component of the training program; recruiting facilitators, developing agenda, activities, and assessments.

Recruitment (20%)
-Coordinates various promotional materials, such as posters, and departmental messaging. This includes collaborating with Student Life Auxiliary Marketing and Student Organization Resource Center.
-Meet with various students and student groups to assist with the recruitment and selection of competitive, diverse candidate pools. This includes Housing student groups such as councils and Residence Hall Association, attending various student employment job fairs, and meeting with student groups across campus to recruitment of diverse candidates.
-Attend Residence Education student staff team meetings to promote student staff positions, to solicit feedback, and support the leadership team in ongoing training.
Many of these recruitment activities occur at night within University Housing facilities.

Administrative Responsibilities (20%)
-Assist with email correspondences such as training related requests and position inquiries by prospective student staff during peak selection and training times.
Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
-Enrolled as a University of Michigan graduate student for the 2019-2020 academic year.
-Must have flexible work schedule; evening and weekends required.

Additional Information
-Supervision received by the Assistant Director of for Student Staff Selection and Training
-The position is an approximately 20 hour a week commitment; evening and weekends required.
-Position dates: July 2019 - May 2020 with an opportunity to renew.
-Compensation is $13-15/hour, depending on experience. One-bedroom apartment and partial meal plan are optional compensation and will be taxed.
