The Communications Assistant position is a new, exciting opportunity for students who have a passion for social justice education and seek an opportunity to gain communications skills in higher education. The right candidate will have a strong eye for visuals, as well as experience with graphic design and successfully running online campaigns. The student will gain an impressive portfolio and marketable skill set towards a career in communications.

The Communications Assistant will support all initiatives in IGR, namely the Student Experience Team, CommonGround, Recruitment Team, Donor Relations, and the Alumni Committee. The Communications Assistant will collaborate with professional and student staff to unify the design of materials, increase online presence, and streamline procedures. The position will be supervised by the Communications Specialist.


- Social Media and Digital Signage (50%)
- Manage an annual content calendar for social media platforms and digital signage
- Produce, find, and promote content
- Engage a diverse audience (first-year to alumni) on social identity topics
- Monitor all channels
- Report on analytics
- Research and identify hashtag trends
- Update social media best practices

Graphic Design (25%)
- Design material for social media, digital signage, and flyers
- Update website visual content

Technology (25%)
- Research and create systems for streamlining content scheduling
- Intranet website building in Drupal, wiki, and/or Google Site
