Job description: Responsible for the set-up and break-down operations of the Trotter Multicultural Center. This includes setting up for events a day prior, right before, and even during an event; while providing customer service to every guest. This includes coordinating set-ups and break-downs based on the daily events and activities on the agenda which includes: organizing equipment, using safety and security measures, and taking charge of daily operations while acting on behalf of the Trotter Multicultural Center. The Building Manager reports directly to the operations and event coordinator at Trotter, and will need to have effective problem resolution skills and ability to make sound judgments. Physical labor is also involved in this position, when setting up tables and chairs for events.
Educational value of the job: The ability to learn the inter-workings of a Multicultural Center and gain insight to events and operations within an academic facility. Gain knowledge of other cultures and firsthand experience within a student life unit. Attend mandatory once-a-month workshops educating in the areas mentioned above along with the enriched experience of contributing to creating resource projects throughout the semester.
Job Requirements: Must believe in the Mission and Vision of the Trotter Multicultural Center and participate in once-a-month workshops and contribute to resource project(s). Leadership experience required. Candidates must also have superior customer service skills combined with an independent initiative to provide guests with a hospitable experience(s). Must be able to set priorities and exercise initiative. Must be able to demonstrate responsible decision-making, and willingness to actively engage with multiple identities and groups. Must be available to work evenings, late nights and weekends. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Serious consideration will be given to those with the above qualifications and have audio/visual experience. Must be available to work one Friday and Saturday evening every two months. Able to move and transport items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Hours per week: 12-15
Specific shifts: Monday through Thursday: 4-10pm, or 6-10pm, Friday: 4-8pm, 6pm-12am, 8pm-12am, Saturday: 8:30am-1:30pm, 1pm-6:30pm, 6pm-12am, Sunday: 8:30am-1:30pm, 1pm-6:30pm, 6pm-10pm
